We attended the 2011 MLB All-Star Game at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
Daniel Hernandez and Joe Garagiola Sr. threw out the first pitch. Here they are meeting with their "catchers - Miguel Montero and Justin Upton - who represented the Arizona Diamondbacks at the 82nd All-Star Game. Also looking on is Derrick Hall, the GM of the DBacks

Giffords intern to throw first pitch at All-Star Game

Taking the mound to throw out the first pitch for Tuesday's All-Star Game will be Daniel Hernandez, Jr., the intern who helped save the life of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords after she was shot Jan. 8.
Joining Hernandez, 21, to toss the ceremonial pitch at the Major League Baseball exhibition will be 85-year-old baseball legend, Joe Garagiola, Sr.
Hernandez is credited with helping save Giffords' life after she was shot in what authorities charge was an assassination attempt at a meet-and-greet with constitutents.
Hired just a week prior to the shooting, Hernandez held Giffords upright to maintain an open airway and applied pressure to her gunshot wound.
Among the six killed in the shooting ramapage was nine-year-old Christina-Taylor Green, the daughter of Los Angeles Dodgers scout John Green and the granddaughter of former Phillies, Mets and Yankees manager Dallas Green. The attack also wounded 13, including Giffords.
MLB Commissioner Bud Selig invited the families of the victims to participate in the pre-game ceremony.
Presenting the colors before the game will be an honor guard of Oro Valley police and Golder Ranch Fire District firefighters.
