My wife and i were somewhat progressive in our early years. Note the economy car and the economy motel where we stayed, representative of our quest for being frugal while we were involved in our own free enterprise business. (We never applied for a small business administration loan). We paid plenty of taxes. I do not regret having paid the taxes for what we earned. America was a different nation in the 60s through the 80s. To say that it was better is not a trick I will fall for, but what I will say is that it was a nation where opportunity DID indeed exist for ALL who wanted to seek opportunities.
